As a non-profit, we recently entered into an agreement with Glendora Schools, and University of La Verne, to have trainees, M.A. level Marriage and Family Students providing mental health services to kids and families. Michael, Erika, Tamara and I have been providing 40 hours per week of services to "at-risk" teens and their families. Supervision of folks entering mental health fields, has been an interest to me since I became licensed for so many reasons. Energetic people who enter this field of working with individuals, kids, families and couples have so much to offer those who are going through life challenges, bereavement, depression or anxiety and other such issues.

As therapists, we come from various schools, philosophies, and theories - but one thing remains: the ability and desire to counsel and intensely listen to those with rich stories of childhoods, early adulthoods, and what may have happened along the way to take them from "their path."

A friend and colleague, Petar Sardelich, shared radio space today with me at KSGVradio.com, about how we as therapists' are "in the room" with clients and what we have to offer them in the way of healing and hope. This half hour conversation will be available at KSGVradio.com tomorrow, archieved. The framework of "uncovering, discovering, and healing" is a profound experience for the client, and our pleasure as therapists' of seeing folks make changes, learn about "self", and live more rewarding lives.

In an endeavor to help more kids and families, we are hopeful to fund-raise and/or procure grants to keep this internship program alive, and even expand in the 2010-2011 school year. We are looking for like minded people who want to volunteer to fund-raise and secure grants. This is a daunting task.
